This Vinha Negrosa is a delightful exploration of the Serra da Estrela, demonstrating that tradition and sophistication can certainly walk hand-in-hand. Crafted from Jaén and Alfrocheiro grapes, the blend beautifully showcases the region's unique terroir. The wine boasts a vibrant ruby colour and a nose filled with notes of wild herbs, strawberry, raspberry, white pepper, and a subtle hint of tobacco – a result of its extended 30-day post-fermentation maceration. On the palate, it’s elegantly structured with good acidity and a lingering finish, thanks to ageing in used French oak barrels. Having earned a remarkable 17.5/100 from Jancis Robinson and the “Best of the Year” award in 2022, this wine, grown at an altitude of 470-500 metres on granitic and sandy soils, is a truly memorable experience – particularly when paired with game dishes.
