Vista Alegre Viticultura: Originating from Quinta da Vista Alegre in Cima Corgo, with vineyards over 80 years old, planted on ancient terraces and predominantly south‑facing exposure. Winemaking: The grapes, hand‑picked into small boxes, come from a single vintage and are produced using the traditional Port wine method. After partial destemming, they are hand‑pushed in stone vats. Fermentation takes place under temperature control and is stopped by adding grape brandy. The resulting wine has great aging potential. Maturation: Aged in large wooden barrels, it can be bottled between the 4th and 6th year. When stored under ideal conditions, it has the potential to age in the bottle for up to 20 years. Pairing: It pairs magnificently with a variety of cheeses and chocolate, cream, and coffee‑rich desserts, as well as fresh fruit, red berries, wild fruits, plums and pineapple. It also goes well with ham and smoked meats. After opening, it should be consumed within a few days, as, despite aging in oak barrels, the oxygenation before bottling was limited. After opening, and if necessary decanted, the wine reaches its peak, but will lose freshness over time. Storage: This is a traditional “unfiltered” LBV, not cold‑stabilised nor filtered. The natural cylindrical cork is similar to that of a Vintage Port. The bottle should be kept lying on its side, at a constant temperature and away from intense light. Over the years sediment may form, and it should be opened and decanted carefully before serving.
