Volaina emerges from the collaboration between Celler Credo and the Natural Sciences Museum of Granollers, which conduct the Catalan Butterfly Monitoring Scheme—studying butterflies or "volainas" as bioindicators. It is made entirely from the Parellada grape grown on two vineyards located in one of the highest altitude zones of Penedès, both cultivated following organic viticulture principles. The wine holds official organic certification and is suitable for vegans.
