Very few producers, and especially in Vinho da Madeira, experience a revolution in their history as profound as the one that took place with Barbeito. To be a bulk wine supplier and suddenly become a benchmark of the Madeira wine region is a feat. Everything unfolded in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita, decided to make Barbeito one of the most prominent Madeira wine producers.
