Maynard's Colheita is produced from a blend of traditional Douro grapes, carefully selected and aged in French oak barrels, providing a rich and full‑bodied structure yet smooth, with excellent balance and elegance. Barão de Vilar, Vinhos S.A. was established in January 1996 from a stock of wines acquired by Fernando Luiz Van Zeller, which was passed on to his two sons Fernando and Álvaro. Its corporate name revives a noble title granted by Queen Maria II of Portugal to Cristiano Nicolau Kopke, the 1st Baron of Vilar, in 1836, which by descent remains in the direct possession of the family. Before the establishment of Barão de Vilar, the Van Zeller family owned Quinta do Noval, one of the most renowned estates in the Port wine sector, from where the legendary “Vintage 1931 Nacional” originates, considered one of the two best wines in the world of the 20th century by Wine Spectator. Today, Barão de Vilar has been renamed Van Zeller Wine Collection, a company that represents a collection of values, ideas, stories, and wines.
