Members of the Delaforce family, of Huguenot origin, have a history tied to the wine trade for more than 400 years. Their involvement in the Port wine business dates back to 1834, when John Fleurriet Delaforce travelled to Porto to establish the new Martinez Gassiot company on behalf of his partners. In 1868, his son George Henry Delaforce, inspired by the richness of the Douro and the world of Port wine, founded his own company, House of Delaforce.
