A fortified wine from the Azores, crafted by hand. It displays a clear, golden‑yellow appearance, with a special, complex wine aroma that recalls toasted spices—intense and lingering. On the palate it feels warm and dry, revealing a noble evolution from aging in American oak barrels. A touch of fine grape brandy during fermentation, a long three‑year wood aging, and a rigorous selection of the best barrels formed the basis for producing this Quality Fortified Wine from the Pico region. The Viticultural Cooperative of Pico Island was founded in 1949, when local producers united to revive the noble grape varieties and the tradition of stone‑barn vineyards, now listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Over the years, more members joined the cause, now totaling 250—women, men, and families who dedicate their lives to their passion and a centuries‑old craft. With 70 years of history, it remains the oldest wine producer in the Azores, continuing to honor and preserve viticultural traditions. This alliance underpins the quality of wines made on Azorean soils. (Illustrative image only)
