Pale to medium lemon-yellow in colour, the 2010 Suduiraut shows a markedly saline nose, with notes of salted almonds, nutmeg and cinnamon, combined with caramel cream, pear tart and peach. The palate is intensely sweet, concentrated and unctuous, with a gentle acidity and a spicy finish. Château Suduiraut, a Premier Cru Classé since 1855, is one of the historic châteaux of Sauternes. A rigorous selection, both in the vineyard and in the cellars, guides the production of the Château Suduiraut wines, which express the success of this exceptional terroir. Certified High Environmental Value, the estate comprises 91 hectares of vineyards on sandy-clay soil, where the stones capture the sun's heat and allow the grapes to reach maturity more quickly. The carefully chosen proportions of grape varieties are decisive to the unique profile of the wines. 90% of the vines at Suduiraut are planted with Sémillon and 10% with Sauvignon Blanc. Sémillon is a traditional grape of the region and, when affected by noble rot, its structure on the palate is broad, lending the wine plenty of richness and sweetness.
