Quinta das Vargellas Vintage 2012 shows a deep, opaque ruby colour with a vivid purple rim. The nose is fine and delicate, with pure aromas of forest fruits, combined with notes of wild herbs and rockrose and subtle hints of vanilla. The floral aromas that are the hallmark of Vargellas are evident, with violet fragrances combining with delicate flower aromas and wild plant notes. On the palate, a stream of very clean, vibrant red fruit flavours flows from start to finish. The tannins emerge fine yet vigorous, providing grip and an appealing sense of a very austere wine. A wonderful, harmonious vintage Port, with every element in its place.
