Intense ruby in color, it offers a complex bouquet of forest fruits with spice notes on the nose. On the palate it delivers fresh, youthful tannins that give it a long, elegant finish. The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who led the business until 1973. Today, the Messias Caves remain under the stewardship of the Messias family descendants. Since its inception, Messias has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions—Dão, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Port—while also earning a reputation for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and brandies.
