Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a business that proved both prosperous and forward‑looking. In the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a standout winemaker recognized as one of the most influential figures in the world of wine, both past and present. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and deepen their understanding of their vineyards, while also crafting his own legacy alongside those who continuously create bold, innovative wines.
