Located in the heart of the Vineyard Landscape of Lajido de Santa Luzia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Pico Island, the Cerca dos Frades project revives historic vineyards cultivated by monks, where the Atlantic breeze and unique volcanic soils give these vines distinctive character. Made from authentic and exclusive grape varieties, the wines produced here stand out for their quality and distinction. Winemaking: The grapes (77% Verdelho, 16% Arinto dos Açores, 7% Terrantez do Pico) are carefully hand-harvested into small 25 kg crates. After a gentle whole-cluster pressing and 12 hours of settling, the must ferments with indigenous yeasts under controlled temperature. The wine matures in a combination of vertical stainless steel tanks (75%), horizontal stainless steel tanks (15%), and French oak barrels (10%). Oenology: Paulo Machado.
