Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has traversed a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company’s activity began with the production of wines from grapes in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded by acquiring properties across the country, creating new paradigms for Quality wine production. Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an ancient property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to Fundação Berardo, the family bearing the same name, whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. It was classified as a National Monument on 23 June 1910. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
