Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has followed a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company’s activity began with the production of wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. During the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal began its expansion, acquiring properties throughout the national territory and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palace of Bacalhôa constitute an artistic monument of great relevance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Fundação Berardo, belonging to the family of the same name whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. Around the Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, wine cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park. (image merely illustrative)
