Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 as João Pires & Filhos, has carved out a reputation as one of the country’s most innovative wine producers. Its journey began with wines made from grapes of the Palmela region, and throughout the 1980s the company expanded, acquiring vineyards nationwide and setting new standards for quality wine production. Quinta da Bacalhôa, regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still standing in Portugal, is a former Royal Portuguese property located in Azeitão. Together with the famed Bacalhôa Palace, it forms an artistically significant monument of national importance. Today the estate belongs to the Berardo Foundation, headed by Commander José Berardo. Designated a National Monument on 23 June 1910, the surrounding area offers picturesque villages, wine cellars, and one of Portugal’s most stunning landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
