The Barroca da Malhada rosé is born from a field blend of Touriga Nacional and Baga, sourced from hand‑picked vines and artisanal winemaking that embraces spontaneous fermentation and minimal cellar intervention. Whole clusters are pressed on a vertical hand‑press, extracting the purest expression of both varieties. It ferments at low temperatures and, in the final stage, is fined on fine lees with bâtonnage. The wine displays a clear, bright salmon hue. Its nose is subtle and elegant, with fresh red fruit notes and a delicate floral touch. On the palate, it offers a vibrant acidity, an engaging profile, and a balanced body, with enough structure to accompany more demanding dishes while maintaining freshness and precision. Barroca da Malhada is a producer of artisanal wines from the Beira Interior, originating from a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages and once belonging to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With about five hectares of vines managed organically and biodynamically, it cultivates slate‑sandy soils of granitic origin in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low‑intervention approach, prioritising authenticity, freshness, and expression of the terroir.
