Barroca da Malhada’s Alicante Bouschet red wine is produced from hand‑picked grapes and artisanal vinification, featuring spontaneous fermentation and minimal cellar intervention. It is aged in stainless‑steel tanks and reused Portuguese oak barrels. With an almost opaque ruby hue, it offers an intense, deep aroma where ripe black fruit mingles with balsamic nuances and a subtle smoky note. On the palate it is structured, powerful, and expressive, with excellent acidity and a long, distinctly gastronomic finish. Barroca da Malhada is an artisanal wine producer from the Beira Interior, rooted in a historic estate that dates back to the Middle Ages and once belonged to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With around five hectares of vines managed biologically and with biodynamic practices, it works on granite‑origin schist‑sandy soils in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low‑intervention approach, prioritising authenticity, freshness and expression of place. (Illustrative image only)
