Bons Ares O VINHO The Quinta dos Bons Ares is located in the Douro Superior, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. It is a very specific place because of its granite soils and its altitude (600 m), which give the grapes structure, acidity, and an aromatic potential that is unusual in this region. This wine from Casa Ramos Pinto is a good example of innovative tradition—a modern classic. THE YEAR A rainy winter, a spring with some showers, and a very dry summer. The vegetative cycle was notably early in all stages, thanks to the water in the soil and the mild spring temperatures. In July and August, temperatures were high. At Quinta dos Bons Ares, the harvest of the white grapes began in mid‑August and finished in the third week of September. VINIFICATION The harvest date for each plot is decided after successive field tastings. After the decision, the grapes are hand‑picked and transported to the winemaking centre, separated by variety and plot. An entire bunch cold maceration of about 24 hours follows. The fresh grapes are gently pressed, without crushing or pressing, and the must is transferred to underground tanks where it is decanted. Turbidity is adjusted and fermentation starts. About 90 % of the wine ferments and ages in stainless‑steel tanks, while the remaining 10 % is aged in French and Austrian oak barrels of different capacities for eight months. This wine was bottled at the end of May 2025. GASTRONOMY Bons Ares Branco 2024 is an ideal aperitif, pairing very well with shellfish and grilled fish dishes. Allergen information Contains sulfites.
