In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, a grain trading company. Later, in 1750, still in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they have distinguished themselves by the rigor and expertise they have devoted to Port wine, raising the Burmester name to the highest levels of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be considered a specialist in harvests, offering magnificent vintages that are regularly released. Their vintage Ports are also of excellent quality, shining in the great vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to honor brands created five centuries ago.
