In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, initially devoted to the grain trade. By 1750, in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves with the rigor and expertise devoted to Port wine, raising the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international recognition. Burmester can be seen as a specialist in harvests, boasting magnificent yields at its disposal and regularly releasing them. Yet its Port Vintages are of excellent quality, showcasing their splendour in the finest vintage years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands founded five centuries ago.
