In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, devoted to the grain trade. By 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they began exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, they distinguished themselves through the rigor and knowledge they devoted to Port, elevating the Burmester name to the highest level of quality and international acclaim. Burmester can be seen as a specialist in vintages, boasting magnificent harvests that it releases regularly. Yet its Vintage Ports remain of excellent quality, shining in exceptional years. At the turn of the millennium, Burmester was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, which continues to immortalise brands created five centuries ago. The bottling year may not match the image presented.
