Hailing from the plains of the Tagus, this wine comes from Quinta São João Batista. Its proximity to the Tagus River and the quality of the soil contribute to the production of excellent wines. The origins of Quinta de S. João Batista are lost among stories of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now a member of the Enoport Wines Group, and since then the estate has undergone a major restructuring of its vineyards and the construction of a modern winemaking center. Located within the Paul do Boquilobo Natural Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve since 1981, Quinta de S. João Batista is steeped in centuries of history, represented by its colonial-style manor house and an architectural ensemble of excellent cellars for wine aging. The estate spans a total area of about 145 hectares, of which 130 are planted with vines.
