Originating from the plains of the Tagus, this wine is produced at Quinta São João Batista, where its proximity to the river and the quality of the soil help create outstanding wines. The estate’s history is woven into tales of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of the Grupo Enoport Wines, and since then the property has undergone a major restructuring of its vineyards and the construction of a modern winemaking centre. Located in the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve—recognised by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve—Quinta São João Batista is steeped in centuries of history. It is represented by a colonial‑style manor house, an architectural complex of excellent wine‑aging caves, and spans a total area of about 145 hectares, of which 130 hectares are planted with vines.
