Casa da Passarella The mystery of the box discovered inside one of the walls of Casa da Passarella is finally solved. The story begins in 1942, when the former owners sealed a box into one of the house’s partitions, containing a handwritten document with instructions to open it 50 years later. Signed by a group of iconic figures of the time, the document also included a last wish: that all the contents be distributed to the poor. Neither of these happened. Only in 2010, when the house underwent renovations, was the box found and opened, and there was nothing inside. Investigations progressed, yet the mystery remained unsolved. Just when resignation seemed to prevail over persistence, a specialist in the extraordinary was called to the site: “The box was indeed full,” explained Professor K. Noronha, “but not with tangible, material items. It was filled with an extraordinary essence that, reacting with future times, would bring happiness through wine to all who made art and benefit from it. Now, those future times are part of the present. This is a double discovery.” The Discovery is a rosé DOC from the Dão Sub-region of Serra da Estrela. It comes from vines planted in poor, granitic soils in a mountain climate. Vinification: open Bica, temperature-controlled fermentation. It pairs well with grilled foods and salads, and is fundamentally characterised by its culinary versatility. Enology: Paulo Nunes.
