It’s clear he’s taken his time – the quick pressing and crushing suggest a touch of eagerness, but the careful temperature control (26°C) reveals a master’s patience. The extended macerações, boosted by a generous addition, produce a remarkably bold wine, yet unbelievably smooth and mature tannins ensure an unexpectedly drinkable experience. The influence of French oak, utilising both new and old barriques, lends an elegant aromatic profile, a boldness that doesn't detract from its Douro soul. It’s particularly well-suited to pairing with a robust beef roast – a match that beautifully balances its intensity.”
