Just before the 1997 harvest, Jean‑Hubert Delon purchased Château Nénin, which had belonged to his cousins, the Despujol family, since 1847. Immediately after the acquisition, a major restructuring was undertaken. The pruning and training methods were revised, the soil was drained, vines were replanted or uprooted, and the equipment modernised. The ageing and storage cellars were expanded and completely remodelled, as were the fermentation rooms, which were fitted with modern equipment, completing the total transformation of the estate. The 2018 Nénin is a blend of about 63 % Merlot and 37 % Cabernet Franc. With a deep black‑purple hue, the nose bursts with notes of sugared black plums, cherries and blueberries, accented by hints of licorice and eucalyptus. On the palate it is full‑bodied, fresh, and reveals layers of ripe fruit to be uncovered.
