Depending on its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
