According to its age, wines may show signs of time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar ensures all wines are kept at the correct temperature and humidity but always preserves the visual appearance inherent to their age. We generally select brands/regions that normally perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like all, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle aerate beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (illustrative image only)
