Dalva represents two percent of the total annual production of Port wine; only first‑quality grapes (A and B) are used. It exhibits excellent organoleptic characteristics, being very full‑bodied and deep‑coloured. Vintage Ports are aged for a maximum of two and a half years before bottling, and typically require at least three to four years before they are served, with an average of another ten to thirty years of bottle ageing before reaching what is considered an appropriate consumption age.
