Domaine Auguste Clape undeniably produces the finest wines in Cornas from grapes grown on just over four hectares of vineyards, many of which are over a century old. The wines are vinified traditionally and then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, never using new barrels. Consequently, they exhibit an opaque colour, are rich in aromas and densely tannic when young. As they age, the tannins evolve, developing a seductive perfume of creamy black fruit, peppery notes and a complex flavour on the palate. (Illustrative image only)
