**Edouard Delaunay** **Denomination:** AOP Corton‑Charlemagne Grand Cru **Presentation** The largest and most accessible of the white Grand Crus on the Côte de Beaune, and the only one situated north of the city of Beaune. The Corton‑Charlemagne AOC covers the upper part of the southern slope of Corton hill. Its full south exposure, ranging from southeast to southwest, is quite unique within Burgundy. **Terroir** This cuvée is crafted from grapes grown in the “En Charlemagne” climate (17 ha), located on the border between Pernand‑Vergelesses and Aloxe‑Corton, at the top of the appellation. The vineyards benefit from a southwest‑to‑west‑southwest aspect. The vines are planted on rich marl soils high in clay, which impart fine and powerful aromas and flavours, as well as elegant acidity. **Vinification and Aging** The grapes were hand‑picked and selected twice—once in the vineyard and again in the cellar. After gentle pressing, only the best musts were used for the Corton‑Charlemagne cuvée. Indigenous yeasts initiated a slow fermentation in barrels (33 % new oak from the central‑French forest region). The wine aged for 15 months, with occasional bâtonnage to add complexity and elegance. **Pairings** Ideal with grilled fish such as perch or trout. Its finesse and elegance make it perfect for refined dishes. It will be sublime with a shellfish casserole of prawns, lobster, or scallops gratinated in a creamy sauce. **Nose** Sweet and textured, suggesting a highly oxidative style with minimal sulfur additions—yet it remains clean and wonderfully balanced. The wine has an enormous body and density, with notes of honey, chamomile, wintergreen herbs, yellow lentil‑soil nuances, and layers upon layers of ripe citrus that deliver bitterness, fragrance, a cutting acidity, and a penetrating freshness. The expression is electrified, with contained power. It contains a substantial amount of chalk powder, firm along the central spine, and ends with a touch of white‑marble mineralism. *(Barrel sample, to be bottled in April 2025)* – Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com **Awards** - 95/100 – La Revue du Vin de France (2023) - 93/100 – The World of Fine Wine (2023) - 94/100 – Tim Atkin (2023) - 93–96/100 – Jasper Morris (2023) - 92–94 – Antonio Galloni, Vinous (2023) - 17.5/20 – Jancis Robinson (2023) - 96/100 – The World of Fine Wine (2022) - 92–96/100 – Jasper Morris (2022) - 17+/20 – Jancis Robinson (2022) - 97/100 – Wine Enthusiast (2020) - 95/100 – Jasper Morris (2020) - 94/100 – James Suckling (2020) - 94/100 – Wine Spectator (2020) - 94/100 – The World of Fine Wine (2020) - 95/100 – IWC (2020) - 95/100 – IWC (2019) - 93–96/100 – Jasper Morris (2019) - 94/100 – James Suckling (2019) - 92/100 – IWSC (2019) - 95/100 – IWC (2018) - 94–95/100 – Neil Beckett (2018) - 91–95/100 – Jasper Morris (2018) - 94/100 – Decanter (2018) - 94/100 – James Suckling (2018) - 94/100 – Jeannie Cho Lee (2018) - 96/100 – IWC (2017) - Corton‑Charlemagne Trophy – IWC (2017) - 90/100 – James Suckling (2017) - 16.5++/20 – Jancis Robinson (2017) **Allergen Information** Contains sulfites. **SKU:** 107968
