In 1861, in Sant Sadurní d´Anoia, Penedès, the Sala family began a venture in producing and exporting quality wines. At the start of the twentieth century, Dolores Sala married Pedro Ferrer, who would revolutionise the business by combining Dolores’ enological expertise with Pedro’s commercial acumen and innovative spirit. From that union emerged the Freixenet brand, one of the largest Cava producers, whose first bottle bearing the brand name was released in 1911. From that inaugural bottle to the present day, the brand has continued to be guided by its values. Today, in addition to its own vineyards, Freixenet is also supplied by more than 2,000 local growers, making it one of the most emblematic Cava producers in the world.
