According to its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust remnants on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar takes care to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to maintain the visual appearance inherent to their age. Generally, we select the brands/regions that normally make a good impression in old wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Thus, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine's quality, since it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting; it may be too aggressive for old wines. (illustrative image)
