The Cooperative Winery of Granja, with more than 60 years of history, benefits from the excellent conditions that Alentejo offers for producing wines of the highest quality, enjoyed worldwide. The great recognition of the quality of the wines produced here came in 1989, when a wine was named “World Champion” at a competition held in Ljubljana, in the former Yugoslavia. Since 2007, the winery has evolved through the modernization of its entire production line, while preserving the region’s traditions—most notably the production of wood‑fermented wine, a practice inherited from the Roman Empire, and the use of grape varieties that are characteristic of the area.
