Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision rooted in the quality of the wines sold, the importance of fresh brand concepts, and the presentation of its wines. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, on innovation, and on developing Portuguese brands of global stature. The company owns roughly 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942, Sogrape Vinhos has invested in the country’s major wine regions, and as it could not help itself, the Alentejo region has always inspired a desire to launch a project that would offer consumers the true quality of Alentejo wines. Accordingly, in 1998 the acquisition of the Herdade do Peso estate was completed, quickly establishing itself in the national market for its ability to deliver wines of varying complexity and styles.
