Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has embarked on a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company’s activity began with producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal started expanding, acquiring properties across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an ancient property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Fundação Berardo, belonging to the family of the same name, whose patriarch is Comendador José Berardo. On 23 June 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. In the surrounding area of Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, cellars, and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
