Picpoul de Pinet is a white wine made from the ancient Picpoul grape, grown since antiquity on the slopes around the Etang de Thau in Languedoc. The wine earned its nickname “Piquepoul” because it sends goosebumps across the lips the moment it’s tasted, delivering an immediate, marine‑like acidity. It’s young, fresh, with citrus aromas and white‑fleshed fruit, and its subtle lemon and grapefruit notes make it a perfect partner for seafood. A group of passionate growers has formed the Vignerons de Florensac, covering 670 hectares near the Mediterranean and bounded by the Etang. The terroir varies from a northern clay‑and‑limestone plateau to a southern sandy plain, with the Mediterranean and the lake creating a temperate climate that reduces diurnal temperature swings during the dry summer. The vineyards are managed ecologically, with about 50 hectares now certified organic.
