Jorge is the fifth generation in a long line of wine producers and cellar owners. In 2009, Sandra and Jorge acquired Quinta da Manoella, a property whose history dates back to 1838. The vineyards at Quinta da Manoella are over a hundred years old, flanked on both sides by younger vines, allowing the production of wines with high freshness and delicacy, and a concentration that quickly makes them recognized as some of the best wines of the Douro. Founded in 2001 by the winemaking couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the company Wine & Soul has invested in and purchased old vines and properties in the Rio Pinhão valley. The couple’s goal is to create wines that express the full character of the old vines and indigenous Douro grapes, seeking a balance between concentration, complexity, and elegance.
