Jorge is the fifth generation in a long line of wine producers and cellar owners. In 2009, Sandra and Jorge acquired Quinta da Manoella, a property with a history dating back to 1838. The vineyards at Quinta da Manoella are over a century old, flanked on both sides by younger vines, allowing the production of wines with remarkable freshness and delicacy, and a concentration that quickly establishes them as some of the finest wines of the Douro. Founded in 2001 by the winemaking couple Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serôdio Borges, the company Wine & Soul has been investing in and purchasing old vines and properties in the Rio Pinhão valley. Their aim is to create wines that fully express the character of the old vineyards and indigenous Douro varieties, seeking a balance between concentration, complexity, and elegance.
