Monte Meão white comes from two vineyards, Vinha do Rio and Vinha do Janeanes, planted in alluvial and schist soils with the Arinto and Rabigato grape varieties, respectively. This wine aged for 5 months in barrels and then a further 4 months in tank. It is very mineral, with discreet, well-integrated oak, excellent body on the palate, citrus notes, and a long, complex finish. The Ferreirinha estates are probably the most emblematic in the Douro. Among them, Quinta do Vale Meão carries enormous symbolic weight, as it was a project conceived from scratch, since the estate was acquired as virgin land. On its own merits, Quinta do Vale Meão is truly one of the most interesting and sought-after wines in Portugal. It deserves the distinction earned by the quality this wine delivers in every vintage in which it is released. The Quinta also produces a second wine, Meandro do Vale Meão, made from its youngest vines.
