Niepoort With a mission to respect biodiversity, we are reviving old white vineyards in the Dão, going beyond the dominant Encruzado variety of the region. The white label is the result of a blend of almost forgotten varieties such as Borrado das Moscas, Rabo de Ovelha, Cercial, among others. With no barrel influence, we create a delicate, light, and harmonious wine that reflects the region's granite terroir. The 2020 vintage was marked by a harsh, long winter with high precipitation, a nearly non-existent spring, and a mild summer with occasional heat spikes. These conditions made disease control and grape ripening somewhat challenging. After achieving the desired ripening, the harvest began on 25 August and finished on 24 September. It was a difficult year, yet it produced wines with good acidity and excellent aging potential. The white label underwent a regular fermentation without any wood influence. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in stainless‑steel tanks, followed by aging in concrete tanks. Ideal pairings include delicate fish, salads, all varieties of white meat, and mild hard cheeses.
