This Niepoort Água Viva is a delightfully rebellious echo of Dirk Niepoort’s long-standing defiance of convention – a spirit that’s been bubbling since 1842. Born from an unusually dry winter in the Bairrada, with a core of Bical and Baga, this sparkling wine showcases concentrated flavours thanks to an early August harvest. That dryness blessed the vines, minimizing disease and amplifying the texture and vibrant acidity. The prolonged ageing on the lees, using native yeasts, truly highlights the unique terroir, delivering a sophisticated experience – a fitting tribute to a master winemaker.
