In Portugal's wine landscape, there is no more consensus producer than Niepoort, whose long history began in 1842 with the first Van Der Niepoort arriving in the country. Starting out in the port wine market as a merchant, he quickly established a thriving and prosperous business. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born, an indispensable figure in the wine world, recognised as one of the most important personalities who has worked for, and continues to work for, Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also preparing his own legacy with those who are always creating irreverent wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects, in almost every Portuguese wine region and some abroad.
