The 2021 harvest delivered a production that exceeded expectations. It began on 11 August, with excellent indicators: musts with high acidity, low alcohol and a fairly firm skin, resulting in well‑balanced wines. In September, weather instability caused a surge of grape arrivals at the winery and varied maturation levels depending on each vineyard’s geographic position. Voyeur comes from six old vineyards spread across different exposures and altitudes in the Douro Valley. Each was fermented and macerated in a 1,000‑liter clay vessel for about six months. The blend of grape varieties—including whites—provides a key element of the wine’s aromatic complexity and structure. After the maceration period, the combined batch from the six vessels was processed in a stainless‑steel tank and then transferred to five vessels again to age for another two to three months before bottling. Voyeur results from co‑fermentation in clay amphorae of white varieties with the reds of the Douro region. The colour is open, light, and lively. On the nose it offers a fresh profile with aromatic herb and red berry notes. On the palate it is round, light, and fresh with good acidity, finishing almost spicy with a slight astringency that gives it personality. This is a versatile and uncomplicated red—an excellent pairing for those who enjoy sushi but prefer reds!
