Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition to introduce Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision based on the quality of the wines sold, the novelty of its brands, and the presentation of its products. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the objective set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally focused company, dedicated to producing quality wines, innovating, and developing Portuguese brands of global calibre. The company owns about 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Offley, founded in London in 1737 by William Offley as a wine trading house, soon began exporting wines and later produced its own Port wine, earning the brand worldwide recognition as a maker of high‑quality wines. A pivotal moment for the company’s expansion was when Joseph James Forrester joined as a partner. Known as the Barão de Forrester, he played a key role in expanding the international trade of Port wine and was the first to map the Douro River and valley, earning him recognition and membership in several European Geographical and Arts societies.
