The Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most well‑known estates in the Douro, stands out for being among the first to bottle its own branded wines. The name of this estate has been mentioned since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first references the “Quinta da Pacheca”, owned at the time by D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in oenology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production. Today, a century later, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family—Maria, Catarina, and José—took over the management of the Quinta, bringing a distinctly familial touch to the business.
