According to its age, the wines may show signs of time, such as dust residues on the bottles and/or damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional ensures that all wines are kept at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that reflects their age. We typically select brands and regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle the aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it air out beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
