Produced only in exceptional quality years, this is a red wine that brings together 20 indigenous Douro grapes, including Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cão. It presents a deep ruby colour, with aromas of forest fruits, eucalyptus leaves, pine and dried plums. On the palate it reveals an excellent structure, balance and elegance. It is a gastronomic wine with great ageing potential. Domingos Alves de Sousa brings his wines to life, following a family tradition started by his grandfather and now joined by his sons. He vinifies exclusively the grapes from his estates—truly unique terroirs—so the quality and singularity of his wines are widely recognised, with distinctions and references in the most respected national and international publications. Special highlight is the award of “Producer of the Year” in 1999 and again in 2006 by Revista de Vinhos, making him the first to receive the most important distinction for a wine producer in Portugal twice.
