This 20‑year‑old Porto Tawny from Quinta da Vacaria was produced from Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca grapes. It shows a golden hue with reddish undertones, exuding a complex and highly elegant aroma that offers mature fruit and dried fruits such as walnuts and hazelnuts, along with hints of cinnamon and coffee. On the palate it is rich, smooth and slightly sweet, with great balance and a long, elegant, velvety finish. Quinta da Vacaria, one of the region’s oldest estates (first record dates back to 1616), is located on the banks of the Douro River beside the town of Régua, in the heart of the world’s oldest demarcated region, the Douro. At the estate’s quay, Rabelo boats would dock to load barrels filled with Port wine and carry them to Gaia at the river’s mouth, where they were sold wholesale worldwide, leaving behind their hidden identity as the wooden barrels bore no producer’s seal. Upon arrival, the wine was bottled and labelled with the brand of the foreign merchants who purchased it, and some of those brands later gained considerable prestige.
