The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not say much to the more distracted, but he is nothing less than the great mentor behind the great wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The history of Quinta das Bágeiras is rooted in the work of three generations; however, it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s guidance, that the winery began bottling and selling its wines, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada and Portuguese wines. While crafted using the methods of previous generations, the Quinta das Bágeiras wines are not fad‑driven; they remain ever‑in‑style, revealing each harvest the character of the region and the people who produce them.
